Where we are
El Flamboyan is located in the village of Bayahibe, Dominican Republic. Bayahibe was founded in 1874 as a fisherman village. Nowadays it is mainly known as an embarcation point for trips to the island of Saona, which lies at the end of the extensive "Parque Nacional del Este" (or National Park of the East) which starts just next to Bayahibe.
In the vicinity of Bayahibe you will find several holiday resorts as well as the small village of Dominicus Beach.
The new Coral Highway has reduced travel times to Bayahibe drastically: La Romana airport is now less than 20 minutes away, Punta Cana Airport is at around 45 minutes and from Santo Domingo (Las Americas airport), you'll be on your way for about 1 hour. All airports have taxis and car rentals available outside their arrivals-terminal.

Once in the apartment, the easiest way to move around Bayahibe is probably by foot. The closest beach is less than 5 minutes away, several other beaches are reached in less then 10 minutes. Supermarket, ATM, car rentals and bus stop all cluster around a small square, 5 minutes by foot from the apartment (at B1 in the map below).
There are numerous restaurants and bars in Bayahibe, even more are found in Dominicus, 5 minutes by taxi or bus (guagua) from Bayahibe.
